Inspiration

This world was inspired by a similar concept I experienced on another platform, where the small group size fostered deeper social connections and friendly competition. I wanted to enhance that experience by adding features like in-game music, achievement tiers, and more immersive effects. Incorporating Cyber trucks as combat vehicles added a futuristic, exciting element, and the challenge of controlling both an avatar and in-game objects made the project even more compelling.

What it does

Cyber Wars is a high-energy multiplayer game where 2 to 5 players battle to outlast their rivals. Each cyber truck has three health points, and the last truck standing wins! Climb the ranks from Cyber Scavenger to Cyber Legend by achieving victory milestones. Fast-paced action and social fun make it the ultimate battle challenge. Do you have what it takes?

How we built it

We built the world using Horizon’s tools, primitive shapes, Blender, TriMesh, and the Horizon World desktop editor. Trial and error, YouTube tutorials, and feedback from the Discord community were essential. The team included CoolVibez33, who led the world creation and lite scripting, and Jogn.Onyx, who handled scripting. Together, we combined creativity and technical skills to bring this vision to life.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was adapting the game for mobile users, who can only grab with one hand, while the game required two. We solved this by rerouting the mobile players button icons. This workaround allowed us to maintain the core gameplay experience across all devices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am most proud of expanding our skills and creating a mobile-friendly world within such a tight timeline. This project also fostered new friendships and collaboration, making it a rewarding experience both technically and personally.

What we learned

I re-learned to never give up. I almost gave up, it was hard finding a solution for the mobile user limited to only being able to use one hand grab function, for a 2 handed grab function game. It felt like, help was slim. I worked on this project for endless hours to only throw in the towel. I was exhausted; lol. But, in the last hours a solution struck. So, here I am at 11:00PM EST on the last day, shooting my shot :).

What's next for Cyber Wars

Our goal is to evolve this into a fully immersive TriMesh environment, offering players the choice of two distinct landscapes at the start of each game. Additionally, we aim to incorporate power-ups and custom-wrapped Cyber trucks, allowing players to personalize their vehicles with unique combat attachments. These features would be unlockable through achievements or in-world purchases, creating a more engaging and customizable experience for players. Also, incorporating typescript and a more engaging 2D interface.
