Around 61% percent of small businesses were victims of a successful cyber attack within the past, year. Most small business owners also don't know much about best practices regarding cyber security, and often times when they are subject to cyber attacks, the results can be devastating.
That's why we came up with the idea of Cyber View.
What it does
Cyber View is an extension that tracks how well business owners incorporate best cyber safe practices, and depending on their best practices, provides bonuses on their insurance premiums. It also provides a user friendly dashboard which shows their overall Cyber Safety Score, which takes into account the amount of malicious websites, they have visited in the past as well as mock phishing emails sent by our operators.
Through this software apparatus, not are incentivized to be cyber safe and aware, they're also informed on the myriad of malicious sites and phishing scams out there.
How we built it
Our software was built using a google extension which tracks the malicious sites visited by the user, provides the user's safety score, as well as mock phishing links clicked. We also built a client dashboard, where the user can see in more details on the malicious sites, and phishing links they have clicked on.
Finally, we also have a operator dashboard, where our insurance operators can send mock phishing emails to users.
Challenges we ran into
Understand how exactly to make our API endpoints, as well as CSS styling.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the amazing user interface we have made, as well as having a novel idea.
What we learned
We learned more about creating google extensions, and CORS errors
