Inspiration
When a company gets hacked, the hacker can often read its emails. We wanted to give the team a safe, separate place to work during an attack.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the website and Node.js for the server. Users log in with a password and a phone code, and all data is encrypted.
Challenges we ran into
It was hard to make the app very secure but still easy to use under stress. Legal deadlines were also tricky because they differ by state.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A team can report an incident in about 20 seconds and get a checklist right away. The app also counts down legal deadlines automatically.
What we learned
Handling a hack is not just about computers. Teamwork and meeting deadlines matter just as much.
What's next for Cyber Incident Report for Winstead
We want to add more state laws and a practice mode so teams can train before a real attack.
