Inspiration
There was an escape room at metrotown where it tested us on how well we can fend off against scams and scam calls. This inspired me to use the same idea to make an escape room inside a video game, which can be created with much more freedom and less limited space. Not only that, because the theme is cybersecurity, our team made it such that there are many codes you must solve to progress in the game. In cybersecurity you often have to solve a lot of passcodes, which is a perfect theme for an escape room.
What it does
It is an escape room game app that allows users to have a fun and interactive experience in avoiding scams.
How we built it
We built the game and all the code using unreal engine, while all the models was made and modified in blender.
Challenges we ran into
The main problem we ran to is that the first prototype did not export the game at all. Because of this we had to restart the entire project from scratch, which turned out to be much better looking.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a game in a span of just 48 hours when even pro indie developers can take days to create one.
What we learned
We learned how to use Unreal Engine blueprints which is basically C++ code written in nodes. It was pretty cool to use.
What's next for Cyber Escape Room
We hope to develop it further later by creating more rooms after the escape room and give constant updates such that it can be much more fun.
