Inspiration
We were experimenting with render pass and wanted to make something where people can see themselves with different face filters at same time, we got this idea from a vfx video where user were seeing himself in the monitors.
What it does
It put user in a cyberpunk theme, user will be surrounded by ship containers, scrolling holographic data and floating monitors showing users face with different filter like gas mask and Iron-man HUD.
How I built it
We draw many sketches for layout and positioning of assets. Made assets in Photoshop and Blender, some of the assets were downloaded and modified according to our needs.
Challenges I ran into
The main challenge was to make it look more futuristic and realistic for which added preset to whole render scene.
While using render pass we wanted to show render scene on the floating monitors.
On screen tap user can capture a shot which then show on screens with some random glitch image sequences but we can't do changes to texture so we double the setup of monitors and set visibility on/off on loop which then show frame shot for a second and then glitch texture for a second.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are happy with our AR effect, and only wished we had more time to add more fascinating features we had in mind. We are really proud of ourselves working as a team despite not being in the same country. We are very happy to have managed to develop such AR theme effect.
What I learned
We learned so much with Spark AR Studio.
How we can add preset to whole render pass to make it more realistic.
How animation works and how they can be created in Spark AR with 2D texture transform.
How delay frame works.
What's next for Cyber City
We have more AR theme base plans like portals where user can travel from real world to AR world with more features and objects.
