CUvid
We noticed that there was a clear lack of transparency regarding COVID very early this semester. It seems as though the university makes a lot of decisions without involving the student population whatsoever. We sought to change that with a completely transparent reporting system. This is a system in which students can anonymously post first hand accounts of COVID-related incidents all around CU campus which would otherwise go unreported.
We learned how to use Angular with agm-maps and json-server to built a fully functional web application that communicates with a mock data API.
CUvid was built with Angular 10, Typescript, agm-maps, Angular Material, and json-server.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was modeling and representing data. We first attempted to use Firebase, but quickly learned that using an actual database was not the best use of our time. Instead, we utilized a mock API for development. Another challenge we faced was working with the Google Maps API. Angular implementation was easy enough, but there was a large amount of small nuances and hoops that we had to jump through in order to deliver our MVP.
