Inspiration

The programs we have made in our CS 010A class and their easy-to-understand nature was the inspiration for us.

What it does

It takes an amount of income, asks about certain criteria such as number of kids and gifts given, and gives a sample of how much you would owe in taxes.

How we built it

We built it using a combination of the statements we have learned so far, such as if statements, for loops, and user-declared functions.

Challenges we ran into

We ran more into collaborative challenges, as this is the first programming project we have done as a group. However, we were well able to discuss our different ideas for the project and different ways of solving the problem.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of having made our first, if quite basic, hackathon project. We're also proud of, instead of being given a pre-existing prompt, having created our own idea for a project, and adapting our code around that. In this way, we learned about navigating unexpected challenges, such as our preconceived style of coding not working, and having to find another method instead.

What we learned

We learned how to work together and communicate with fellow programmers and how to overcome challenges we didn't anticipate Most importantly for myself personally, solving a unique problem for which there was no one uniquely correct solution.

What's next for Cutiehack 2023 Submission

Once we have gained greater experience with more types of expressions, we will be able to create more complex projects, and learn more about the design and coding process in real life.
