π₯ Cut2Go
π‘ Inspiration
In many urban areas, students, bachelors, and working individuals struggle to find time for meal prep. Meanwhile, many individuals β like housewives and students β are looking for flexible part-time work. We saw an opportunity to connect these two needs through a simple platform that makes everyday vegetable prep both convenient and community-powered.
βοΈ What it does
Cut2Go is a web application that connects customers who need pre-cut vegetables with local service providers (housewives, students, and vendors) who offer cutting services. Customers can choose vegetables, cutting styles, and delivery times, while service providers earn by fulfilling these orders from home or local shops.
π οΈ How we built it
- Frontend: Built using ReactJS with TypeScript for type safety and TailwindCSS for clean, responsive design.
- Backend: Developed with Node.js and Express.js to handle user roles, orders, and APIs.
- Database: MongoDB was used to store users, orders, and vendor data securely.
- Authentication: JWT-based login and role-based access for customers, cutters, vendors, and admins.
𧱠Challenges we ran into
- Designing a workflow that supports three distinct user roles (Customer, Cutter, Vendor) with unique permissions.
- Creating a system that balances real-time order matching with manual acceptance by service providers.
- Ensuring a simple and intuitive UX for both tech-savvy users and individuals who may be new to digital platforms.
π Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Designed a fully functional three-sided marketplace connecting individuals with real earning potential.
- Built a modular and scalable tech stack that can grow with future features like chat, payments, or delivery partners.
- Created a social-impact driven solution that empowers underutilized communities while solving a real problem.
π What we learned
- How to build a role-based platform that serves different user experiences within the same app.
- Realized the importance of blending user convenience with social empowerment.
- Improved our skills in designing clean UI/UX flows for diverse user personas.
π What's next for Cut2Go
- Integrate real-time notifications and order tracking
- Add payment gateways and transaction history
- Launch a mobile app version for broader accessibility
