Inspiration
If you have ever had an idea for a new product, a platform or an app, chances are you've been advised to start by validating your idea and talk to potential users. Turns out, this validation step is not only crucial but also highly codified. After identifying potential customers, you need to ask them questions that will help you understand whether your idea could be a success. You'll want to learn as much as possible about your target customers, but you also need to remain neutral and not influence their answers.
What it does
The Customer Interview Generator, as the name suggests, helps product managers, indie developers, creators and founders create the perfect script to conduct a solid customer interview and help validate their next product idea.
How I built it
The app uses AWS Partyrock as well as my personal touch when it comes to prompt engineering.
Challenges we ran into
For the tool to be truly useful, it has to come up with questions and a script that are tailored to the product or business idea and the customer it targets. The bible of customer interviews is a book called The Mom Test, I had to make sure the LLM acknowledged and followed principles from the book.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The Customer Interview Question Script Generator is very easy to use and has a tangible output. Users only need to describe their business or product idea and the target customer. They can then either create their own customer interview script based on the questions generated in each section or follow entirely the script generated.
What I learned
This project was an opportunity to learn more about AWS Partyrock and explore simple automation using only LLMs and prompt engineering.
What's next for Customer Interview Question Script Generator
I'd love for the app to be used and tested by the community of builders and creators. Building a script is only one of the steps involved in conducting successful customer interviews, other aspects of validating a business or product idea could be potentially automated and improved including, for instance, connecting with potential customers, learning from their input and following up after the customer interview.
