Inspiration
My grandpa has flimsy health and I love him very much. I wanted to provide a product that could help him in case of emergency in the seldom times he is alone.
What it does
The Implementation is not finished yet as each member learned their role from scratch. However, the application allows the user to enter medical information and emergency contacts. Then on the lock screen two buttons can be pressed to send all emergency contacts and first responders the location of the individual and that they are in danger. Then it will call first responders. This would probably save the most lives for people found incapacitated or in wrecks. Later we would like to allow a way for caretakers and doctors to update information on the app to help elderly, disabled, or people that are not tech saavy.
How we built it
We used Android Studio for backend and used Flutterflow for front end on the application. The website was made in visual studio using html and css. We also used ChatGPT to debug.
Challenges we ran into
All of us learned our individual roles from scratch. I learned Kotlin, Jose learned HTML and CSS, and James learned to debug with ChatGPT. We basically contested time with learning new skills and did not come out on top on that end. However we are proud of the skills we gleamed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our idea as it could save lives and were proud that we acquired these skills and used them during the course of the event.
What we learned
Kotlin, HTML, CSS, ChatGPT debugging
What's next for Custodia Emergency
Finishing implementation and adding a data base for health care workers to update information for at risk patients who can't do so themselves.
