Inspiration
The inspiration behind CusePULSE came from a simple but pressing question: Are essential resources/services truly located where people need them most? Especially because Syracuse has had lead problems in the past, which, for example, is an insufficient resource; where is the lead located, and how do we get rid of it? This correlates to our project, so the efficiency of the departments is maximized.
What it does
CusePULSE is a data visualization and analysis tool designed to map essential facilities and analyze their accessibility.
How we built it
We used NextJS, TypeScript, HTML CSS, and Python to make a web app that takes the data and processes it to make data visualization features.
Challenges we ran into
Version Control problems and also GitHub problems.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building the website and understanding what services Syracuse really needs.
What we learned
What services and resources does the City of Syracuse not maximize? Data-driven urban planning is crucial for building more efficient cities. User feedback is invaluable in understanding how urban planners and communities interpret data, and it helped refine our approach.
What's next for CusePULSE
Improving the software software to find more in-depth inefficiencies where the city of Syracuse could improve on.
