INTRODUCING CurtainCall
Inspiration
Doing work is draining, but finding people looking to hire is the real challenge. Many people waste time searching the web for recruitment, but our project aims to provide a simple, easily accessible solution to improve the employment rate.
What It Does
Our Project is a fusion of LinkedIn and Tinder for upcoming rookies and professionals in the arts industry.
- Artists and companies can connect with one another through swiping and accepting others --- Leading to the formation of communication ties and potentially being hired.
- Endorse others --- Which can increase your likelihood of being connected with, as your profile would appear higher in others' queues.
- You're also able to see a network map of how your connections are connected to you and to other mutuals
How We Built It
Frontend: Nextjs (React Framework), Tailwind(CSS Framework) Backend: MongoDB (Database), Spring Boot (Backend)
Challenges We Ran Into
A challenge we ran into was connecting our database to our frontend build. This caused us problems, as without it, we were unable to create user profiles that would later be a major part of our project.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
Successfully creating a functional prototype in an expedited timeframe. Also proud of creating a multi-connected networking web where you can see who you're connected to and how others are connected to mutuals.
What We Learned
We learned how to leverage different data structures in passing complex data structures between the frontend and backend. This allowed us to have a more cohesive system that had properly distributed responsibilities.
What's Next For CurtainCall?
As we grow our web app, we plan to move beyond acting and theater work into other fields, such as technology. Along with the possible integration of monetization to receive and send payments through a secure third-party service.
