Family and friends who homeschool their kids.
What it does
A platform that allows parents/teachers to create and share custom-made curriculums for homeschooling and self-study.
How we built it
We used Ruby on Rails as our back-end and AngularJS for our front-end.
Challenges we ran into
Building a large scale application with a heavily associated database, along with other frameworks and libraries. Rails and Angular integration is not well documented, so there was a steep learning curve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The amount of features that we were able to complete in the 34 hours, and the fact that we have only been coding for approximately 3 months.
What we learned
A lot. From drawing out ERD diagrams to designing the UI, we had to learn something new at each step.
What's next for CurricuLearn
The next step is to continue development until it reaches a beta product. Our family and friends who homeschool would love to use this as a learning platform and it will be a good opportunity to receive some feedback for improvement. We love this idea because it will be scalable to the point where parents and teachers will be able to share and sell their curriculums to those who are interested.
