What Inspired Us

Our inspiration for creating Curious Mind - The Children's Encyclopedia originates from our personal experiences during childhood. As a team, we found ourselves asking numerous questions that often went unanswered by our parents due to discomfort or reluctance to discuss certain topics. This gap in our childhood education motivated us to develop a solution that provides children with accurate and approachable answers to their queries.

How we built it

The foundation of Curious Mind was constructed using Node.js as the backend framework. We also integrated an API that connects to GPT-3.5 Turbo, enabling us to generate insightful and child-friendly responses. Despite having no prior experience in Node.js or backend development, we embarked on a learning journey to master the necessary skills. This transition presented a significant learning curve, as we transitioned from frontend coding to building complex backend functionalities.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges we encountered was our limited knowledge of Node.js. The transition from frontend to backend development required us to acquire new skills rapidly. We faced difficulties in understanding server-side logic, database management, and API integration. Overcoming these obstacles took a lot of research, online tutorials, and trial-and-error coding sessions. Our determination to learn and adapt played a crucial role in overcoming these challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We take immense pride in the holistic outcome of our project. From developing financial statements and projections that are viable and professional as well as the seamless flow of the website. Together we have an easily fundable and easy to use project for an amazing cause.

What we learned

Our journey with Curious Mind taught us the value of hard work and dedication in achieving our goals. We discovered that making a meaningful impact on people's lives requires going the extra mile and investing substantial effort. The all-nighters and collaborative problem-solving sessions highlighted the importance of teamwork and perseverance.

What's next for Curious Mind - The Children's Encyclopedia

Looking ahead, our next step is securing funding to sustain the project's operation. As each input and output utilizing GPT-3.5 Turbo incurs costs, maintaining the project's financial sustainability is paramount. We aim to seek partnerships, grants, or other funding opportunities to ensure the continued availability of Curious Mind. This support will allow us to keep providing valuable information to curious children in an accessible and empathetic manner, fostering their understanding and growth.
