This is our first Hackathon!
Inspiration
Our team wanted to address the challenge language barriers pose in many places around the world, especially in a diverse country like America, by creating an app that can help people learn different languages.
What it does
Our project addresses this challenge by acting as a learning tool for young kids to learn words from different languages.
How we built it
We used HTML, Javascript, and CSS to develop the website. We also used other programs such as GitHub, Notepad, Flat, Kleki, and pixlr. We also registered for a domain called, "curiouscritters.tech".
Challenges we ran into
- We had difficulties finding free animation software for our project that our group member’s device could run.
- Often, our code was being difficult, and it took a lot of time to get it to work.
- Two of our teammates were gone for most of the time period due to things that were happening at the same time as the event. We tried to negate the negative effects by planning ahead for this.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of including background music for the project since it’s something we’ve never done before. Our graphics also took a lot of time to make, but we’re proud we managed to include them.
What we learned
We learned how to code, animate, and compose music for this project.
What's next for Curious Critters
We're going to be working on more hackathon projects in the future as a group to try and develop our skills and learn new things.
