Inspiration

Curio aims to save you time by aggregating and curating information and reviews about products online to help you make more informed purchasing decisions.

What it does

Curio is a browser extension that extracts the product name and brand from the web page of the product you're looking at, searches the web for reviews about that product, summarizes those reviews, determines an overall sentiment for the product, displays keywords associated with the product, and lists and summarizes different reviews about that product.

Users can bookmark products to look at later, and add likes for reviews they find useful. Curio saves all product entries into a database, as well as any inputs from users.

Users can search Curio's curated database by product name, brand, or keywords to find products that match exactly what they're looking for.

How we built it

Curio is a Chrome extension built with React and TypeScript, and connects to a backend written with TypeScript, NodeJS, Express, Prisma and powered by Cohere and CockroachDB.

What's next for Curio

Adding more functionality and better insights:

  • Display similar products that have better reviews
  • More powerful searching and sorting features for the Curio database
  • Social features for user such as sharing/exporting curated product lists
