💡 Inspiration

Curatit was born out of a personal frustration. As a designer, I constantly needed inspiration from top-performing social media posts, but the process was messy — opening dozens of Instagram tabs, manually saving content, and juggling bookmarks and screenshots. I wanted a cleaner, faster way to browse brand content in one place. That’s what led me to build Curatit — a visual inspiration tool designed to simplify and streamline creative workflows.

🚀 What it does

Curatit is a visual library of curated social media posts from top brands. It lets users scroll through a responsive grid with a unique elastic scroll effect, where each column moves at a slightly different speed. Every post is downloadable in one click, making it effortless to collect inspiration without opening multiple tabs or losing time in cluttered folders.

🛠 How we built it

The frontend was built using Bolt.new with TypeScript and React, styled using Tailwind CSS. GSAP’s ScrollTrigger and ScrollSmoother powered the soft, parallax-style scroll effect. Supabase served as the backend, handling database storage, media uploads, and real-time data access. Additional tools and libraries included Radix UI for accessibility, Lucide React for icons, react-window for performance, and web APIs like Intersection Observer for lazy loading.

🧗 Challenges we ran into

Instagram’s scraping limitations meant I had to manually curate and upload content. Creating a scrollable, media-heavy grid that felt smooth while staying performant was another major challenge — solved through virtualized rendering and lazy loading. Finally, finding the right balance between aesthetics and usability required several design iterations.

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud to have built something that genuinely improves my own workflow and has the potential to help hundreds of other creatives. Going from idea to working MVP in under 48 hours wouldn’t have been possible without Bolt. The platform helped me bring the vision to life with incredible speed and flexibility, and the final result is something that feels clean, fast, and truly useful.

🧠 What we learned

This project taught me how developer-friendly and powerful Supabase is — from real-time data handling to seamless storage integration. I also experienced how Bolt.new can massively speed up frontend development with AI-generated components. Most importantly, I learned that simplicity, when paired with good design and execution, can be incredibly impactful.

🔮 What's next for Curatit

Next, I plan to add filtering and categorization features, let users save and organize favorite posts, and build a browser extension for saving content directly from Instagram. I’ll also be launching curated seasonal galleries — like New Year, Eid, or Black Friday collections — to help users find timely inspiration faster. Ultimately, I want to grow the content library and open the platform to the public.

🏁 Challenge Compliance

This project was built using Supabase for backend, database, and storage, and Bolt.new for the frontend. The entire stack is designed to be scalable, with real-time updates, media management, and a modular UI. The required organization slug has been added to the app as part of the Startup Challenge submission.
