1. Inspiration:

Where there are fellow brothers and sisters facing hardship, there are countless services to provide assistance. My team had no problem flexing our empathic and creative muscles to make all CUNY Essential Services even more accessible than they already are. We believe that when it comes to these services, the access can always be easier and more effective.

2. What it does:

The CUNY Essential Services HUB sublimes all critical information available across multiple web pages which are tailored to different service categories, such as healthcare, childcare, food pantries, transport services, housing, mental care services. It provides easier and more user-friendly access to crucial information about all essential services CUNY offers through a simple, intuitive, and effective user interface. This is how we hope to raise awareness of the benefit of these services and elevate the scope of help they can offer by increasing the number of people reaching out to them by using our product. The goal is to further optimize the usage of all existing web sites hosting essential services CUNY can provide and make it a standard feature of CUNY.

3. How we built it:

Each of us pondered on all the provided prompts and came together to discuss ideas of what we want to provide as additional helpful features to what CUNY Essential Services already has. We plotted possible technical trajectories to our goal and got to work. We utilized the Google Maps API to store and pinpoint coordinates based on data gathered from existing webpages, then displayed them on a map. Each pin was designed to include essential information about the services provided.

4. Challenges we ran into:

As much as all of us wanted to dedicate all of our time to ensure the completion of this project, the reality of every day responsibilities became challenges that we overcame.

5. Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are proud of being able to breech past being strangers in a quick nano-second and sprang into crafting ideas and possible execution strategies. The members of this team are masters of time management, communication, and collaboration.

6. What we learned:

The scope of technical knowledge we gained is vast, but more importantly we all solidified our conviction of the importance of teamwork.

7. What's next for CUNY Essential Services HUB

We are dedicated to make this product adopted by CUNY and be available as a feature to maximize the utilization of all of the essential services available to all who need it.
