Inspiration
CUNY has a million resources for its students but these resources are not reaching to the students. An average student is not aware of the help available on their respective campus, yet alone across CUNY.
To fill in this gap, we wanted to create one-stop platform: CUNY Bulletin
What it does
CUNY Bulletin brings together resources from all the 25 campuses of CUNY. Right now, we are focused on the Psychological Well Being of the students. Our web-app allows our users to create their own account, personalized checkups, journaling and CUNY wide services information available only a few clicks away.
How we built it
We implemented our web-app primarily in python. Utilized Streamlit library to authenticate user logins.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted to use a database (MongoDB) to store the checkup and journal feature data. However, we were not able to implement it and faced multiple bugs. To resolve the issue, we decided to store the data locally.
What's next for CUNY BULLETIN
Implement a cloud based database to efficiently store user login and app data. This will ensure we can scale our project.
Expand our domain from Psychological Well Being to other aspects like Professional Opportunities, College Life, International Student Services etc.
