Cultural Erasure is the Removal of culture or the dying out of Culture .
Cultural Erasure can happen accidental or purposely.
In the Caribbean, Cultural Erasure has long been an issue since the days of colonisation and even after emancipation and independence, some traditions and customs has been long in time. These practices are often passed on through oral communication which can be lost over time.
Cultural Retention is where aspect of a Culture is kept alive, According to an Cultural Retention in the Caribbean Article on Bartley Research, "This will occur when a tradition not only links to a major segment of a society’s history, but when it functions as a source of identity and pride. It also works to the tradition’s advantage when it is enjoyable and/or entertaining." Thus by introducing students and even young adults to the the traditions and practices in their country.
At CultureConnect, we believe that the best place to start is by showing students the importance and the story before some heritage sites in their Caribbean Country. Students and Youth Adults can also connect with other and share their culture, traditions and customs.
Together we can keep our Culture alive.
What it does
It is a website that search its database for cultural heritage sites that the user wishes to find and returns it to them along with additional information.
Challenges we ran into
The Difficulties faced with this project is getting the website to run. Since I'm a beginner, I run into a lot of issues into making the website function. JavaScript was a difficult language for me and understanding the syntax was hard. A major issue was fixing the errors like "Syntax Error or "Unexpected identifier"

What's next for CultureConnect
The Future of this project is definitely improve the community tab and make it into a user login system. I would also like include more information on the various heritage sites. It is also to add more countries and improve the entire website
