Cultural AI World TV
Cultural AI World TV is an AI-powered TV experience designed to make discovering world cultures simple, interactive, and enjoyable on a large screen.
The Idea
People can discover different countries and regions through cultural videos, festivals, traditional dance, food, music, history, and local stories—all from a TV-friendly interface.
Key Features
- Explore cultures from different countries and regions
- AI-powered cultural discovery through AI Journey
- Search for countries and cultural topics
- Cultural videos and visual experiences
- TV-friendly interface designed for large screens
- Remote/D-pad navigation
- Voice and search-based discovery
- Dedicated exploration of Indian regional cultures
- Easy navigation between Home, Explore, AI Journey, and other sections
How I Built It
I designed the experience specifically for TV rather than simply adapting a mobile or web interface. The project focuses on large-screen UI, remote/D-pad navigation, cultural content discovery, search, video playback, and AI-assisted exploration.
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was making the experience work naturally with a TV remote instead of a mouse or touchscreen. I had to carefully handle focus movement, directional navigation, and screen transitions.
Video playback and external content were another challenge, especially when testing in an emulator environment. I also worked on creating an interface that remains clear and easy to use from a distance on a TV screen.
Testing the application in the available emulator environment was challenging because some TV-specific capabilities are different from a normal Android environment. These challenges helped me understand the differences between building for mobile/web and building a true TV experience.
What I Learned
This project helped me learn more about TV-focused UI/UX design, remote navigation, video playback, emulator testing, and building an AI-assisted discovery experience.
Most importantly, I learned that a TV application needs a different interaction model: users should be able to understand where they are, what they can select, and how to navigate using only a remote.
Impact
Cultural AI World TV aims to make cultural discovery more accessible and engaging by bringing the world's cultures to the TV screen.
Instead of searching through many different sources, users can explore countries, regions, traditions, festivals, food, music, and cultural stories through one interactive experience.
What's Next
The next steps include expanding cultural coverage, adding more regional and multilingual content, improving AI-powered recommendations, adding richer cultural categories, and continuing to improve the TV experience and remote navigation.
Cultural AI World TV is built with the goal of making the TV more than just a place to watch videos—it becomes a way to explore and learn about the world.
