Inspiration
I noticed how fragmented cultural exploration has become artists search for grants in one place, travelers look for museum tours elsewhere, and students struggle to find engaging timelines or events related to history and art. We wanted to create a unified platform that bridges the gap between real-time cultural events, art, history, and education something that feels alive and accessible to everyone, in real time.
What it does
CulturaHub is a real-time cultural discovery platform that helps users: Discover ongoing and upcoming art exhibitions, historical events, and cultural performances Find live grants and residency opportunities for creatives Listen to curated audio content like art podcasts and guided museum tours Explore interactive timelines of major historical and cultural milestones It’s a one-stop dashboard for artists, students, educators, travelers, and curious minds to explore and stay updated on the world of culture and history.
How we built it
We used Bolt as the no-code platform to build the UI and structure. Integrated the Wikipedia API for historical summaries and event data. Used the Spotify API to fetch and embed relevant podcasts. Pulled real-time events from the Eventbrite API filtered by category and location. Designed the frontend with custom HTML blocks, embedded media players, and filtered Airtable views. Integrated it with Supabase(for backend), github(for repository) and razorpay(for payment)
Challenges we ran into
Some APIs (like Submittable and izi.TRAVEL) were deprecated or restricted, which forced us to pivot to reliable alternatives like RSS feeds and ListenNotes. Spotify’s OAuth token management required backend proxying for long-term use. Wikidata’s SPARQL interface had a steep learning curve and needed optimization to ensure the timeline data was readable and relevant.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully integrated 3 live public APIs into a seamless Bolt interface without writing custom backend code. Created a usable MVP that updates dynamically with real-time cultural event data. Designed a clean, intuitive user experience that connects art, history, and technology. Made cultural and historical exploration feel accessible, relevant, and inspiring.
What we learned
Not all APIs are equally developer-friendly fallback planning is essential. No-code platforms like Bolt can be surprisingly powerful for building live, data-driven dashboards when combined with smart API use. The cultural tech space is underexplored there’s massive potential in making historical and artistic content more engaging, timely, and interactive.
What's next for culturahub
