Inspiration

When you're sick, the worst part is not always the symptoms — it's the isolation, uncertainty, and lack of guidance. After going through a tough personal illness with fluctuating symptoms and no medical diagnosis, I realized how important it is to feel accompanied, understood, and organized. That moment inspired the creation of cuidados.app: a digital companion that helps you monitor your health, follow home or medical treatments, and receive emotional support — especially when you're alone.

What it does

cuidados.app is a wellness companion webapp that:

Lets users log their daily symptoms like temperature, appetite, pain, fatigue, and sleep

Offers personalized recommendations based on inputs

Allows users to add both medical prescriptions and home remedies with visual scheduling

Provides alerts when dangerous symptom patterns appear

Gives positive reinforcement and a recovery overview

Is ready for Pro upgrades with RevenueCat and sensor integration (e.g. thermometers)

The app focuses on comfort, usability, and clarity, especially for people who are tired, in pain, or feverish.

How we built it

We used:

Bolt.new as the rapid prototyping platform

Supabase for user authentication and data storage

Custom logic for symptom interpretation and recommendation

A responsive UI optimized for low cognitive load

Placeholder structure for sensor integration and RevenueCat for Pro features

Challenges we ran into

Designing something that feels human, not clinical

Avoiding diagnostic language while still providing meaningful guidance

Making everything mobile-first and emotionally warm

Getting the symptom tracking UX right without making it feel like a form

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Designed and built cuidados.app in under 48 hours using Bolt.new, with full user authentication and real-time data handling

Created a fully functional symptom tracking system with intuitive sliders and emotional UX for users experiencing fatigue, fever, or anxiety

Developed a dynamic recommendation engine that responds to user input with meaningful guidance and support

Enabled medication and remedy scheduling — including both clinical prescriptions and homemade treatments — with an easy-to-use visual interface

Designed a UI that feels warm, gentle, and human, avoiding the coldness of many health tracking apps

Laid the groundwork for future integration with wearable sensors and premium features via RevenueCat

Managed to translate a deeply personal health challenge into a product that could help thousands of others feel accompanied and supported

What we learned

Building for sick users requires empathy-driven UX

Less is more: minimal, clear layouts are vital when users are tired or feverish

Logging symptoms becomes a form of self-reflection and support, not just data

Many people face illness without diagnosis or support — a simple app can make a big difference

What's next for cuidados.app

mplement full chat-based assistant for emotional support

Connect with real-world sensors: thermometers, glucometers, oximeters

Allow export of symptom history (CSV/PDF)

Add AI-powered insights and trends from user's health data

Launch a Pro version with RevenueCat

Make it multilingual and accessible globally
