Inspiration

One of our team member's family includes a low-functioning individual with ASD. We sought to create a platform to help others facing neural disorders and those seeking to improve their social skills by teaching something that most people falsely believe is intuitive.

What it does

Customized and engaging learning plan to teach various social cues like facial expressions, emotion, public speaking, and engaging with others.

How we built it

We built this web app using a Vite.js react project. So this web app is built on React.js a javascript web development framework, and redux for storing state variables. We also used firebase from google for login authentication and storing data for each user.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot of major challenges and minor bugs, including trouble with the user login system, creating flashcard animation, navigating different pages etc. But we were all able to solve them after collaborative efforts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that three of our team members learned React, HTML, and JavaScript on the go, quickly adapting to build a functional and dynamic web app. Our website is carefully designed for individuals with autism, considering accessible colors, clear navigation, and structured learning. We also made it engaging through streaks, gamification, and personalized progress tracking, encouraging users to return and continue learning every day.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained hands-on experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, learning how to manage state, user progress, and dynamic UI updates effectively. We also enhanced our collaboration skills using GitHub, allowing us to work seamlessly as a team, track changes, and integrate features efficiently. This experience deepened our understanding of front-end development and building an engaging, user-friendly learning platform.

What's next for Cue Buddy includes expanding the platform to achieve an extremely engaging and rewarding system that encourages users to grow their social skills to their highest potential.
