Inspiration Cucumber was inspired by the idea of making it easier for organisers to manage events and for participants to stay engaged, without complicated systems.

What it does Cucumber helps admins plan activities, track attendance, and manage participants and volunteers in one place. It gives a clear overview of events while keeping things simple and friendly.

How we built it We built Cucumber using React for the frontend, focusing on a clean and approachable UI. Mock data was used to simulate real event and attendance flows, allowing us to design features realistically and iterate quickly.

Challenges we ran into Balancing functionality with simplicity was tricky. We also spent time figuring out how to structure participant data so it worked for both individual events and overall attendance. We also faced a shortage of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We’re proud of building a cohesive system that feels intuitive and polished within a limited time. The attendance and admin views came together smoothly and reflect real-world use cases.

What we learned We learned the importance of planning data structures early and designing with the end user in mind. Small UI decisions made a big difference in usability.

What's next for Cucumber Next, we’d like to connect it to a real backend, with proper secuirty and authentication methods and improve support for long-term tracking across multiple community programmes.
