Inspiration

I am a huge fan of video games and I after experiencing on how some games have balance issues where several characters have a clear advantage compared to the others, I had the inspiration of making a pong like game between where each player only had to rely on their skills with their aiming and their ability to dodge.

What it does

It is a one vs one game where the full controls are the WASD keys for player one and IJKL keys for the second player. They both play as cubes that shoot projectiles with a wall with many holes in between them. then the bullets collide they can be canceled out and and it only takes one hit to defeat the other person.

How I built it

I build the game with Unity 2D which also uses C# as the main language when running scripts on how each object shall interact with each other. Although I had used pre-made assets it initially learn how to use Unity, non of the assets used in the game were borrowed and were all made by me using the image application Gimp.

Challenges I ran into

Since it was the first time I had used Unity and was still incredibly inexperienced with C#, the learning curve I had was steep, especially to learn within 24 hours.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I had managed to have grown a basic understanding of Unity that I can hopefully carry over for myself in the future.

What I learned

I learned more of how C# works and especially how Unity works considering that I have an eye on game development.

What's next for Cube Duel

The game although perfectly functional, it lacks other commodities such as sound design and animations, what it has as of so far is the gameplay and not much else.
