Inspiration
Cube is the product of whimsy; our only goal was to make something cool.
What it does
Cube has you take pictures of your Rubik's Cube (scrambled, we hope) and walks you through its solution.
How we built it
We built Cube using Java and partitioned its production into 3 discrete phases:
1) Parsing of visual input to usable data
2) 3D graphical representation of the cube
3) Implementation of the solving algorithm
Challenges we ran into
+ Reliable parsing of the user's images while accounting for physical phenomena (poor lighting, etc.)
+ Maintaining our abstraction of the Rubik's Cube across Cube's disparate elements before its assembly
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Putting together a working application in 36 hours.
What we learned

What's next for Cube
A rapid rise to app fame and quiet, seaside retirement. Possibly a second version with improved image input.
