Inspiration
Since all the members in our group are women in tech, we aim to highlight the representation and encourage more people to join the journey of CS.
What it does
This project is an interactive website that highlights women's representation in the technology field using data visualizations, user input, and team-based storytelling. It was built to showcase official NSF statistics while also providing visitors with an opportunity to share their own coding experiences and goals.
How we built it
We built the database based on online open sources. R and Python are used to clean and organize the data we've got. On the other hand, user interfaces are built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Figma. Moreover, Gemini is also included.
Challenges we ran into
There are multiple challenges that we ran into. For dealing with data, some of the CSV files are incomplete and complicated to read.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing diagrams and graphs and setting up the website. Also, embedding Gemini to create code-testing problems is also really cool.
What we learned
We've learned to cooperate efficiently while also absorbing peer knowledge. In addition, we've got to know more about Gemini AI and how to work with it.
What's next for Ctrl+She
- bring people who are not familiar with coding but have the desire to start their coding journey a guide
- empower more women to be in STEM
