Inspiration Need for Awareness: Recognized a significant gap in knowledge among elderly citizens regarding online safety, particularly related to cyber scams. Personal Motivation: Many of us have experienced or witnessed loved ones falling victim to scams, which sparked the idea to create a resource that educates and empowers them. What It Does Interactive Quiz: Users can take a quiz designed to test their knowledge about online safety and scams, making learning engaging and enjoyable. Educational Resources: Each question is accompanied by explanations and tips, helping users understand the importance of each topic and improve their awareness. User Progress Tracking: With sign-up and sign-in functionalities, users can track their progress and see improvements over time. How We Built It Technologies Used: Utilized HTML for structure, CSS for styling, and JavaScript for functionality, creating a responsive and visually appealing application. User Authentication: Implemented sign-up and sign-in features to create a personalized experience, allowing users to save their scores and revisit quizzes. Question Development: Crafted quiz questions based on extensive research, ensuring they are relevant and informative while catering to the audience's understanding level. Challenges We Ran Into Engagement vs. Education: Struggled to find the right balance between making the quiz fun and ensuring it remained educational without overwhelming users. Technical Hurdles: Faced challenges with data storage and retrieval during sign-up and sign-in processes, requiring troubleshooting and iterative testing. User Feedback: Gathering and implementing feedback from target users to improve the user interface and experience posed some logistical challenges. Accomplishments We're Proud Of Positive Impact: Developed a tool that not only educates but also empowers elderly citizens to take control of their online safety. Community Engagement: Fostered a sense of community by receiving feedback and suggestions from users, showing that they value the resource we created. Skill Development: Enhanced our coding skills and project management abilities while working collaboratively as a team. What We Learned User-Centric Design: The importance of designing with the user in mind, particularly for an audience that may be less tech-savvy. Effective Communication: Learned how to explain complex concepts in simple, relatable terms to ensure understanding. Adaptability: The need to be flexible and adaptable when faced with unexpected challenges during development. What's Next for CSPSC CYBERQUIZ Feature Expansion: Plan to incorporate more quizzes and interactive elements to keep users engaged and encourage repeat visits. Collaboration Opportunities: Seeking partnerships with local organizations and community centers to promote the quiz and reach a broader audience. Continuous Improvement: Regularly update the content based on new cyber threats and feedback from users to ensure the information remains relevant and helpful.
