Inspiration

As a beginner developer, there are lots of unfamiliar terms. This project makes it easier for people to learn computer science topics. CSimplify seeks to solve that problem by allowing convenient explanations through and interactive learning environment.

What it does

CSimplify provides convenient explanations of CS concepts through an interactive learning environment.

How we built it

Using Python and JavaScript for the backend and frontend, respectively, our program retrieves the information that it gives from and LLM which is provided by Backboard API.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the sandbox coding environment proved to be a challenge. We wanted to give the user the ability to work hands-on with code that implemented the concept they wanted to learn. We ended up implementing the interactive environment using WebAssembly, which allows the program to run completely client-side, saving on costs and security, without having to access a database in the backend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The convenience and accessibility of our product makes it easy for users to get what they need. We also were able to make it more accesible by adding a narrate feature using ElevenLabs API.

What we learned

We learned how to coordinate as a team, and complete an MVP from start to finish. We also gained experience implementing LLM's into a project.

What's next for CSimplify

The next goal would be to find a way to verify the information which CSimplify gives to users. This could be done using RAG implementation and a database with correct, up-to-date info.
