Inspiration
Our own personal suffering as well as the audible and clear suffering of our peers going through the same challenges of absorbing so much information with such little time often due to inadequate teaching curriculums.
What it does
It provides a central resource for CS students (specifically only CSUF or now) where current and past students can provide links to websites, videos and any other resources that helped them get through their classes.
How we built it
We used the React framework, although we never really utilized much of its features due to only learning about it during the hackathon.
Challenges we ran into
We were trying to create a Firestore database to save student/user provided links and videos through an input form field for each subject but we had problems integrating the database with our frame work and ran into many errors that took up man hours of unfruitful debugging so we decided to save it for a future iteration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the idea and feel like it can actually grow and help a ton of students through guiding them throughout their CS college career.
What we learned
We learned how to set up a project and work with git and GitHub collaborating with team members, how to start a web app project using React framework, also learned how to connect a database such as Firestore to our web app.
What's next for CS-BS
We would like to expand CS-BS to include advice, tips, and resources for current students on what they should do or practice outside of class and unrelated to their grades that will help them build skills and confidence that will greatly benefit them throughout their career.
