Cryptocurrency prices change fast, and it can be hard to track everything across different websites. I wanted a simple dashboard where users could quickly see top coins, search for specific ones, and save favorites in one place. That idea became CryptoView.

CryptoView is a web app that lets users track cryptocurrency prices and manage a personal watchlist. You can:

  • View the top cryptocurrencies by market cap
  • Search for specific coins
  • See detailed price data including price, market cap, volume, and last updated time
  • View a seven-day price chart
  • Add coins to your watchlist
  • Remove coins from your watchlist
  • It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.

CryptoView uses live data from the CoinGecko API. I built the backend with Node and Express, and I store watchlist data in a Supabase database. Key backend endpoints include:

  • GET /api/watchlist-get — loads saved coins
  • POST /api/watchlist-add — saves a coin
  • DELETE /api/watchlist-remove/:id — deletes a coin
  • I used Chart.js for charts and dayjs for date formatting.

The main pages are:

  • index.html — Home
  • dashboard.html — Dashboard
  • about.html — About page

I faced issues syncing data across the backend, API responses, and the watchlist database. Handling real-time price updates and making sure the UI stayed responsive also required careful debugging.

I successfully built a functional crypto dashboard that connects frontend, backend, and database systems together. I also created a clean user experience that makes crypto tracking easier.

I gained experience with APIs, full-stack development, database integration, and handling dynamic data. I also learned how important structured endpoints and clean UI design are in real applications.

Next, I want to add user authentication, price alerts, portfolio tracking, and improved mobile support. I also plan to expand analytics so users can better understand trends.
