Inspiration
The inspiration for Cryptoad stems from the need for a more fun and interactive way to spend and earn cryptocurrency in the open market.
What it does
Cryptoad is a user-friendly, fun, arcade-style game in which users can stake crypto amounts and gain multipliers by reaching checkpoints. This crypto amount will be directly linked to an NCR-based store, in which users can spend crypto to purchase a myriad of different items.
How we built it
We built Cryptoad and its accompanying shop using Three.JS, HTML, CSS, and JS to communicate in a module-based, website environment. The frontend/backend communication is linked through the domain Cryptoad.fun. The source code for the Cryptoad game was borrowed from a Three.JS implementation of Crossyroad; however, our own changes to the Crossyroad implementation are relevant to the scope of this event.
Challenges we ran into
Most of our challenges stemmed from general lack of knowledge with website based development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most certainly proud of our ability to stay steadfast and determined through learning new and challenging concepts. Our group had never worked with web-development before, and this challenge really helped with keeping us engaged and excited to learn more.
What we learned
Our team learned how to work better together, with code, and with higher-level ingenuity concepts. This challenge really helped bring us together with our ideas and creative concepts, and having the ability to express those ideas in code has proven itself as a valuable life skill.
What's next for Cryptoad
We're hoping to fully implement an original version of Cryptoad very soon. The time constraints present during the UGA Hacks Hackathon7 event were too great for a project of such magnitude.
Design and Ideas
We set out with the goal of creating an interactive gaming experience. It's designed to entice the customer with flashy, addictive game that keeps the customer coming back for more. It uses many tropes of modern eye catching games, such as flashy, bright colors and high stakes challenges. A modern take on a classic game, Cryptoad was inspired by games like frogger and Crossyroad. With a twist. The game implements a betting and gambling system, where the user can place bets using in store currency. As they progress further into the level, the multiplier of their bet increases, leaving them with more in store currency to spend. However as the game progresses it becomes increasingly impossible.
