Inspiration
Sport rating is a currency! You need to work hard to earn it. You need a safe place to store it, watch it grow, admire it. Fortunately, nowadays we have a reliable base for storing these numbers (blockchains). And the most obvious place to watch it is your crypto wallet.
What it does
We are creating tools and examples how to use crypto ratings. Our goals is
How we built it
We started with a program for organizing tournaments. In the custdev process, we discovered that the current competition systems have come from the last millennium. Some sports clubs still count the rating in an Excel spreadsheet (these are the ones that no longer do it with paper and pen). Having some experience with blockchains, I suggested using them as a database (tokens store the rating number) and a server for calculations (a smart contract is good for Elo rating calculations). The rating token looks really cool in crypto wallet, so in this moment I understand this is the thing.
Challenges we ran into
Not many people understand what blockchains are and why it's good. Therefore, the most important problem is not technical, but informational. Need a good FAQ!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have held 2 table tennis tournaments and one chess tournament with ratings in the blockchain! People who have already used the block members before were delighted! They say they like to see their rating next to their bitcoin balance. They asked us to add prizes for tournaments in the form of NFT tokens (and we did it).
What we learned
People are more important than programs. Custdev is not easy.
What's next for Crypto rankings
We are working on a public beta of our program for organizing tournaments. Now we support 3 types of blockchains: BSC, Rinkeby (dev version of Etherium), Solana. The next version of the smart contract for Solidity and Rust is also in the works.
