Inspiration
When home, you can easily go to the grocery store and buy the ingredients you need to make your meals according to your meal plans. However, college, a home away from home doesn't have easy access to making food according to your preferences especially as a freshman. When in the dining halls, the cake and the pasta and all of the juices look so good and you have no control over your diet. Well, you can count on our app to give you an exact breakdown of how much you are consuming according to your diet plan and its contribution to your diet plans.
What it does
Our app gives the consumers an exact breakdown of how much they are consuming according to individual meal plans and accounts for exactly how many calories are being inputted and the food that a consumer can consume based on their dietary restrictions and their preferences given by our app.
How we built it
Our app is being built using python and swift which were the primary languages we built using virtual simulators to run our app.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into consisted of how we were going to consider the daily exercise of each consumer and taking into other factors into consideration like metabolism. However, we chose to keep our design relatively simple while also keeping these factors in mind so that it is most effective for each consumer.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our greatest accomplishment in our project consisted of how we were able to work together in order to come up with the layout and design of the app.
What we learned
In the process of creating the app, we learned how to coordinate effectively and work as a team to finish our work.
What's next for CruzforFood
We hope to implement this in real time which will be helpful to many students that go to UCSC and want to make conscious and healthy decisions of their food and health.
