Inspiration
We wanted to make managing money easier and more intuitive. People often struggle with figuring out how to budget, save, or invest, so we thought, why not create an app that gives clear, practical financial advice? Using Capital One’s API, we aimed to help users stay on top of their finances without overcomplicating things.
What it does
Our app helps users track their spending, set financial goals, and get personalized tips to improve their financial habits. It analyzes your transactions and offers advice on saving, budgeting, and paying off debt, all in one place.
How we built it
We built the app using Node.js for the backend, integrating with Capital One's API to access user transaction data. On the frontend, we used React to create a clean and user-friendly interface. We focused on making the experience simple and responsive, so users can easily navigate their financial information.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring secure integration with Capital One's API while managing sensitive financial data. We also faced some hurdles in providing real-time updates without overwhelming the user with too much information at once.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how quickly we were able to prototype and build a fully functional app in such a short time. We also successfully implemented personalized financial advice algorithms that users can trust to help guide their decisions.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the complexities of working with financial APIs and how important it is to provide users with the right amount of information in a way that’s easy to understand. We also gained valuable experience working as a team under tight deadlines.
What's next for Crusaders
Next, we plan to enhance the app by incorporating more in-depth investment advice and adding features for long-term financial planning. We also want to integrate more financial data sources to provide even better insights for users.
