Inspiration
Startups and SMBs often struggle with managing HR tasks efficiently — from hiring to onboarding, to measuring engagement and performance. Most HR tools are bloated, expensive, or require deep setup time. We were inspired to create Crucue, a modern, AI-driven HR platform that empowers small teams to handle people operations seamlessly, without needing a full HR department.
What it does
Crucue is an AI-powered HR platform for startups and small businesses. It helps teams:
- Create job posts and screen resumes using AI
- Automate onboarding checklists and templates
- Collect feedback with customizable surveys and 360° reviews
- Measure engagement with pulse check-ins
- Get insights and suggestions from a built-in AI HR Assistant
- Manage subscriptions using integrated billing with RevenueCat
All in one, clean, web-based dashboard built for speed, clarity, and intelligence.
How we built it
We built Crucue using:
- Bolt.new – for designing and scaffolding the full app (frontend + backend logic)
- Supabase – as our backend: auth, Postgres database, and edge functions
- Gemini (Google) – for all AI features like job generation, resume screening, onboarding template creation, feedback sentiment analysis, and chat assistant
- RevenueCat – to manage subscription tiers and billing (web SDK)
- Tailwind CSS + Glassmorphism – for clean, modern UI
- PostgreSQL – powering relational logic like job listings, feedback loops, survey answers, and task checklists
The system is fully modular and extensible — and runs entirely on the web.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing an HR system that feels lightweight yet powerful
- Integrating Gemini API securely within edge functions for AI workflows
- Creating a flexible data model for feedback, surveys, onboarding, and engagement tracking
- Getting RevenueCat's web integration to sync with Supabase-auth users
- Managing state across multiple dashboard modules without overwhelming the user
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Delivered a full, working MVP in days using AI-first tooling
- Seamlessly integrated Gemini AI across multiple workflows
- Built a clean dashboard UI that feels modern, fast, and intuitive
- Created real-time, secure user auth and subscription logic
- Made HR tools accessible for small teams that usually can't afford them
What we learned
- Bolt.new is extremely powerful for rapidly prototyping full-stack apps
- Supabase edge functions are perfect for modular, secure backend logic
- Gemini is highly capable for structured HR-related tasks (especially text generation, summarization, and sentiment analysis)
- Real-time feedback loops + AI = huge time savings for managers
- AI-first HR tooling can actually feel human-first when done right
What's next for Crucue
- Add multilingual support for global teams
- Integrate Google Calendar + Slack for HR workflow automation
- Enable document signing and employee file management
- Expand AI capabilities for performance reviews and team culture insights
- Launch publicly with tiered subscription plans via RevenueCat
- Open-source selected components to help other indie founders build HR tools faster
