Inspiration

Health experts around the world have been advising everyone to practice social distancing in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus. We are repeatedly reminded to maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from one another to minimise the chances of contracting the infection. With the New Normal era- the phase of the relaxation of lockdown restrictions, it often gets difficult to maintain social distancing at public places like grocery stores, malls, restaurants, etc. But what if there was an app that could alert & show you the places to avoid visiting and give real time crowd data?
Well, interestingly there’s an app called Crowdy which we’ve made!

During these unprecedented times of COVID-19 and the lockdown scenario, many have tried to make the best out of the quarantine phase by increasing productivity and getting involved in hobbies. During these times, our team of 4 enthusiasts started with a goal to fight COVID-19 by helping in implementation of Social Distancing with tech. The world now and post COVID-19 will never be the same as before which means we have to abide by the golden rule of social distancing.

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE COVID-19 WORLD!

Looking at the current issue wherein it’s difficult to maintain Social Distancing and people wait in long queues, we have come with a solution to this problem with our webapp- Crowdy which aims to assist the implementation of Social Distancing.

What it does

Crowdy that can help us maintain social distancing which is of utmost importance right now. Crowdy app helps users maintain social distance at public places such as grocery stores, pharmacies, malls, bus stops, salons, parks, petrol pumps, and public transport. The app provides real-time data about how crowded a particular area is and indicates with the help of red, yellow, green colors.
Such an app is very crucial at this crucial time when maintaining social distancing is the key to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic

Crowdy uses it's own check in feature, where the user can check into public places and also maintains a real time public counter with color severity to let other know about public places. live

-> Users can track people at different locations by visualizing it in maps having clusters of crowd marking them with red, if number of people/area density is high, yellow for moderate density and green for safest density at different locations.

-> Users can explore different restaurants and dining places and check-in by scanning qr code at the restaurant, other users will be able to see the number of people currently present at the restaurant.

-> After authenticating through Google oauth and checking in, users can now see live updates about the sanitary conditions of the restaurant, people’s reviews and ratings, and number of people checking in at regular intervals providing better user experience. For checking out, users can provide feedback and ratings to the place to help others track the safety at different places.

Maintain your safety and keep yourself updates with just a few clicks. yeet

How we built it

We built this using HTML, CSS and mostly JS. For the backend we used python's flask framework, also integrated Oauth2.

Challenges we ran into

Getting it all together.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to create this hack within 12hour of period, its been a lot of work.

What we learned

We learned a lot about flask and how to integrate DB.

What's next for Crowdy

Getting more entities, enterprises on board to make this even more scalable.
