Inspiration

During disasters, emergency teams receive thousands of reports from social media, SMS, and public channels. Duplicate and unverified information makes it difficult to identify critical incidents quickly. We built CrowdMind AI to convert scattered reports into actionable intelligence, helping responders make faster and smarter decisions.

What it does

CrowdMind AI is an AI-powered disaster intelligence platform that aggregates reports from multiple sources, removes duplicates, prioritizes incidents, and recommends optimized resource routing using AI and Operations Research.

How we built it

Frontend: React 19, Vite, Tailwind CSS, React Router

Backend: Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Mongoose, JWT Authentication

The platform combines Natural Language Processing with Operations Research techniques to analyze disaster reports, prioritize emergencies, and optimize rescue resource allocation.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was handling reports from multiple sources while avoiding duplicate incidents and presenting information in a simple, actionable dashboard. We also focused on balancing AI automation with human decision-making.

What's next for CrowdMind AI

We plan to integrate live weather and satellite data, real-time social media streams, GIS mapping, predictive analytics, drone support, multilingual NLP, and mobile applications to make CrowdMind AI a production-ready disaster response platform.
