Inspiration As a team of passionate animal lovers, we were inspired to create a crowdfunding project that helps support animal shelters and rescues in our community. We noticed that many shelters are struggling to keep up with the demand for their services due to a lack of funding and resources. We wanted to create a platform that could connect animal lovers with shelters in need, and make it easy for people to donate and support their local rescues.

What it does Our crowdfunding project is called "Paws for a Cause", and it is a web-based platform that allows animal shelters and rescues to create fundraising campaigns and connect with donors who are passionate about animal welfare. On our platform, shelters can create a campaign page with a description of their organization, photos and videos of their animals, and a fundraising goal. Donors can then browse and contribute to campaigns, and receive updates on the impact of their donations.

How we built it We built "Paws for a Cause" using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js) for the backend and frontend development. We also integrated a payment gateway to handle secure and reliable donations.

Challenges we ran into One of the biggest challenges we faced was building a platform that was user-friendly and accessible to a wide range of users, including both shelters and donors. We also had to ensure that our payment gateway was secure and compliant with relevant regulations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud of creating a platform that makes a positive impact on animal welfare in our community. We have already helped raise thousands of dollars for local shelters and rescues, and have connected countless donors with organizations they care about.

What we learned Through building "Paws for a Cause", we learned about the challenges facing animal shelters and rescues, as well as the power of crowdfunding to make a difference. We also gained valuable experience in building web-based applications and integrating payment gateways.

What's next for Crowdfunding In the future, we plan to expand our platform to support more shelters and rescues, and to add new features such as social sharing and real-time updates. We also hope to partner with corporate sponsors to increase the impact of our campaigns and support more animals in need.
