Inspiration

Since the dawn of time crowdsourcing has been a focal point of the development and advancement of the populace. One of the premier examples in recent times is Kickstarter, the organization aids artists, creators, and developers in showcasing their ideas to the public. With the current boom in decentralized architecture, it is the need of our to design platforms that can progress public involvement in funding whilst ensuring transparency and privacy.

What it does

Our platform is designed to emulate the positive aspects of Kickstarter, however, our platform succeeds where Kickstarter fails and that is to ensure a decentralized structure. Kickstarter has a centralized structure implying that one single entity has control of the transactions and the management of ideas on their platform. Our platform on the other hand ensures the architecture is decentralized providing greater transparency in transactions and trustworthiness in the management of ideas on the service.

Design and Development

The platform has two major components, the smart contract which governs the working of the system, and the front end which regulates the working and allows users to interact with our smart contract. Design and development of the smart contract were done using Solidity on the Remix IDE. The front end was primarily designed using HTML and CSS and integration between the two components was coded in JavaScript.

What we learned

During the initial stages of brainstorming, our foremost goal was to learn and design a platform that could enrich lives while having fun along the way. Our greatest takeaway during this process was the immense experience we gained through learning and coding in Solidity. We also gained a deep insight into the workings of a smart contract and how transactions are made and passed in the blockchain. The entire journey allowed us to delve into the nuances and intricacies of Solidity and equipped us with skills that will benefit us in the future.

What's next for CowdFund - A Crypto Crowdfunding Platform

Currently, our platform only supports Cryptocurrency-Cryptocurrency Transactions. However, in the future we aim to integrate more people into our platform, to that end integration of conversion of Fiat currencies to Cryptocurrency is among our foremost objectives. Furthermore, we aim to assimilate more protocols and blockchains to ensure greater transparency and trustworthiness among our stakeholders.
