What it does
Not everyone has the access to education. This can be due to various factors such as political or financial barriers. CrowdCourse is a new platform which attempts to address this problem which has already existed for decades. Even though several existing services already exists for MOOCs, all of them have a few problems:
Courses are run by a few individuals and because they are repeated - the courses are neglected after a year or two because the individuals who run the course do not have the time to update the content. This will be problematic when there are errors in the lecture content, or the content becomes outdated.
Courses may have room for improvement but cannot be improved because it has already been published.
Only accredit postdoctorates from a few post-secondary institution have the ability to create courses, which greatly limits the range of content that can be taught.
CrowdCourse attempts to address these problems through the style of crowd-collaboration where anyone can submit edits to a course or start their own course. To ensure quality content, each edit will need to be approved by a moderator who specializes in the category of the course. All edits can be discussed by the public.
