STUART's Team

Inspiration

Two of our group members are from MRU and the other is from UofC. We wanted to create something that involves the two schools by making a game involving the recent Crowchild Classic Hockey game. It was a big event for the students at Mount Royal and their underdog hockey team, stopping UofC's winning streak.

What it does

A fighting style game between MRU and UofC, using GPA instead of health as both mascots compete for the better grade.

How I built it

The game was built using pygame and all images and sprites were made using the gimp photo editor.

Challenges I ran into

Discovered the limitations of pygame in the early stages of development and worked together to find solutions. There was also a language barrier between our group members since we know different languages. Python was the common knowledge that was shared as we learned it in high-school.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of creating an interesting and fun experience that is relatable to university students at both Mount Royal and the University of Calgary.

What I learned

Learned how to deal with file paths for images on Mac OS and on Windows. We also learned how to implement images in pygame and how to use the graphical software gimp.
