Inspiration
We realized that a lot our friends sometimes had trouble reading through the whole list of street names to find their bus stop resulting to them to miss the bus, so we thought it would be a good idea to make the process of finding your nearest bus stop way more easier.
What it does
CrossyBus shows students all of the different bus stops which show different info for example, if it is drop off only or pick up only, the route, the destination, and the pick up times.
How we built it
First, we used google maps in our website to show the map of the area. Second, we used a cartoon bus image to mark the destinations of the bus stops. Then, we added in info windows that pop up when you tap on one of the bus stops. Lastly, we made it accessible at https://tidal-taste.glitch.me/.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into was that at one point the bus marker was WAY to big, so we had to make it smaller so you can see the rest of the map. Another challenge was finding the actual locations of the bus stops because the list wasn't very clear on where the stop was.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud of the fact that we could send the link on our IPhones to our moms correctly. Another thing we were proud of is that you can access the websites on phones and laptops. Lastly, we are proud that we were able to make the bus markers the perfect size other than taking up the whole map.
What we learned
We learned more about coding (and about how cool it is), how to solder, more about writing down data to where it is understandable, and more group programming sites.
What's next for CrossyBus
To put in more bus stop info, to make a search bar to search for their address, and to create an emoji to represent where the user is located.
