Founder of Alvera dot ai , i am building mcp platforms for healthcare. As a part of my conversation with the developer of HL7 opensource library for HCA-America,he mentioned HCA has no good way of injesting dicom and converting hl7 to fhir, I thought why wait for lawyers lets build an open source addon that bridges healthcare protocols to mcp

What it does

Injests data across MLLP, SFTP (emulated), HTTP get for HL7, Dicom, and FHIR and uses RPA to write to athenahealth EMR

How we built it

Picked opensource pydicom, elixir, and elixir-mllp and playwright and stitched together a demo

Challenges we ran into

RPA had issues with size of note that i could paste so i had to truncate it, in future we will add more RPA to enable longer messages

What we learned

RPA is a bit tricky, MLLP is not that hard, we can use claude to do boilerplate

What's next for cross-protocol-mcp-bridge-for-healthcare

Collaborate with industry experts and get it deployed in production, hopefully inside HCA
