Inspiration

The idea for the Cross-Border Health ID came from our own struggles while traveling internationally. We often had trouble getting the health information we needed, especially in emergencies. Things like finding vaccination records, sharing allergy information, or proving our health status at borders were difficult and caused delays. These experiences made us see the need for a simple, secure digital ID that could make it easier to access important health details when traveling, no matter where you are in the region. Additionally, we have also seen the effects of pandemics and how countries, especially in the African region, don't have reliable ways to verify the health status of individuals moving across borders. This in turn makes it harder for countries to contain outbreaks and manage public health effectively.

What it does

Cross-Border Health ID is a digital identity solution that securely stores and shares essential health information such as vaccination records, blood type, emergency contacts, and allergy details. This ID is designed to be interoperable across borders, allowing individuals to receive consistent healthcare services regardless of their location. It also facilitates faster and safer border crossings by providing health authorities with the necessary information without compromising user privacy.

What's next for Cross-Border Health ID

As we continue developing the Cross-Border Health ID, we have a few key goals in mind for the future. First, we want to integrate the ID with telemedicine services, so users can easily consult with doctors across the region. We’re also looking into adding a feature that allows for secure payments directly through the platform, making it easier to handle medical expenses while traveling.
