Our Inspiration:

Our inspiration comes from farmers, The backbone of our nation. Coming from a family of farmers, including my father, grandfather, and uncle, I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges they face. They shared with me a problem that many small landholders encounter—those whose fields are located in the middle of larger plots. These farmers often struggle with transportation access during harvest time because the narrow raised boundaries between fields are too small for vehicles to pass.

This issue forces them to wait until the front-line farmers finish their harvest, delaying their own work. While it may seem like a minor issue in some regions, it’s a significant challenge in many areas. What’s frustrating is how quickly trivial matters gain attention, yet issues like this, which impact so many, are often overlooked.

That’s why we decided to take action and address this problem. Even if success isn’t immediate, we believe that taking the first step will bring awareness to this issue. And we asked ourselves, “Why shouldn’t that first step be ours?"

How We Built It:

We’re currently at the ideation stage, passionately brainstorming and refining our concept. While the prototype isn’t developed yet, we’ve mapped out a clear vision of how the solution should function. Our focus is on practicality, scalability, and affordability for farmers

1.Foldable Wheels for Narrow Embankments: While traveling on narrow embankments (as small as 70 cm), the machine folds its four wheels into two, making it compact and stable to navigate these tight spaces without damaging the boundaries or nearby crops.

2.Unfolding for Harvesting: After reaching the desired field, the machine unfolds back into its four-wheel mode, ensuring stable and efficient operation for harvesting.

3.Eco-Friendly Power: To reduce the dependency on petrol, the machine is equipped with solar power technology, making it a sustainable and cost-effective solution for farmers. In future, we are trying to implement this in automated technology.

4.Crop Collector: The harvested crops are stored in the back container (crop collector), simplifying the process and minimizing manual labor.

5.Manual Handling: The machine is designed for manual operation, ensuring ease of use and affordability for farmers who may not have access to advanced automated tools.

6.Designed for Small Landholders: Perfect for small landholders and those with fields in the middle of larger farms, where traditional harvesters can’t reach due to blocked access by other fields.

7.Dynamic Wheel Functionality: The machine only switches to two-wheel mode while navigating embankments. During regular operations, it reverts to four wheels for stability and efficiency.

8.Eco-friendly Foldable Harvester: Travels embankments in 2-wheel mode, unfolds to 4-wheel harvesting, powered by solar for sustainability

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of;

Despite the hurdles, we’re proud of the depth of our ideation. Identifying a problem often ignored and crafting a feasible solution is no small feat. We’ve taken the first step, and that itself is an accomplishment worth celebrating.

What We Learned:

This journey taught us the value of persistence and teamwork. We dived deep into understanding rural challenges, learned to think outside the box, and realized how technology, when applied thoughtfully, can create real change. Farmers are innovators in their own right, and we’re just amplifying their genius!

What’s Next for the Project:

We’re not stopping here. Next steps include: Seeking Guidance: Connecting with mentors, experts, and agricultural engineers to bring our idea to life. Research and Development: Diving deeper into technical feasibility and prototyping. Building Partnerships: Collaborating with farmer communities and organizations for real-world insights and support. Our journey has just begun, but we’re determined to turn this vision into reality. With the right guidance, nothing is impossible!
