☕ CropSaarthi — Smart Farming Assistant

🌟 Inspiration

Farmers, especially smallholders, face recurring challenges like pest outbreaks, unpredictable weather, soil degradation, and lack of access to timely government support. These factors lead to major crop losses and reduced quality of yield. We were inspired to build CropSaarthi — an AI-powered, multilingual assistant that brings disease detection, eco-friendly farming advice, and government schemes into the hands of the very people who grow the coffee we all enjoy.

📱 What it does

CropSaarthi is a smart farming app tailored to support farmers, offering:

🧠 AI Crop Doctor: Detects leaf rust, coffee berry disease, and other infections from a photo, with natural treatment suggestions like neem oil and biocontrols.
💧 Smart Irrigation Planner: Uses live weather data to optimize watering schedules and reduce water waste.
☀️ Solar Solutions Toolkit: Calculates solar pump savings, offers maintenance tips, and shows subsidy options.
🧪 Soil Testing Integration: Links with Indian Government’s Soil Health Card system to guide fertilizer use and maintain soil health.
📢 Scheme Awareness Hub: Updates users with active government and CSR-backed schemes (subsidies, training, insurance).
🗣️ Regional Language + Voice Support: Built for accessibility in rural coffee-growing belts with low literacy.

🛠️ How we built it

Hugging Face API: Integrated an image classification model for plant disease detection.
OpenWeatherMap API: For 5-day weather forecasting and irrigation logic.
Gemini API by Google: Used to generate eco-friendly, region-specific advice and multilingual support.
Government Data Portals: For soil health reports and agriculture scheme updates.
