Inspiration
As a retired veterinary technician transitioning into tech, animals are still a huge focus in my life. On top of three large dogs I share my home with a ball python and a flock of chickens. Regulating my ball pythons enclosure (temperature, humidity and day/night cycles) as well as keeping the brooder for my chicks at the correct temperature is a constant struggle. This idea came from necessity.
What it does
The user can enter the species and signalment along with environmental conditions and the app recommends the correct conditions for the pet. A pet vet bot can answer any additional questions and refers the user to a clinic if there are any health concerns that need the attention of a veterinarian.
How I built it
I used PartyRock generative AI to create the app.
Challenges I ran into
It was very straight forward. The challenge will be to add a hardware component, which is the end goal.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud of making this app and that it works the way it was intended.
What I learned
It was a good exercise in prompting and refining the prompts to get the correct output.
What's next for Critter Comfort Controller
An added hardware component that can actually control all environmental settings through temperature and humidity sensors as well as manage day/night cycles. The plan is to work on the code and use a raspberry pi. Then add sensors that give data feedback and trigger the controls/switches as needed and based on the recommendations given by Critter Comfort Controller.
