🌟 Inspiration We noticed that during emergencies—whether natural disasters, health crises, or personal safety situations—people often struggle to make quick, informed decisions. Our inspiration came from the idea of creating a real-time digital assistant that guides users through crises, helping them stay safe and organized. Emergencies don’t wait. Whether it’s harassment on the street, a sudden panic attack, or being lost in an unfamiliar place — people often don’t have fast, reliable help. We built Crisis Copilot to be that instant lifeline, combining personal safety and mental wellness in one simple, powerful app.

What it does

Crisis Copilot acts as a smart assistant for emergency situations. It provides actionable guidance, real-time updates, and decision-making support tailored to the type of crisis. Whether it’s creating an evacuation plan, tracking resources, or sending alerts, Crisis Copilot helps users respond quickly and effectively. “It is your AI-powered guardian in your pocket — a fully functional safety and mental wellness app built with Bolt AI. With one tap, it sends SOS alerts with live GPS, guides you to the nearest help, calms you with breathing and grounding tools, and keeps your private journal encrypted — even offline. Whether you’re in danger, lost, or overwhelmed, Crisis Copilot responds in under five seconds. Because in a crisis, every second counts.”

How we built it

We combined real-time data APIs, AI-driven decision logic, and an intuitive user interface. Our backend integrates live emergency data, while the frontend allows users to interact seamlessly with actionable suggestions. We prioritized accessibility and speed to ensure it works under stressful conditions. Concept & Flow – Mapped out both emergency and non-emergency user journeys. Frontend – React Native for smooth, cross-platform performance. Backend – Node.js + Firebase for secure storage, authentication, and real-time updates. APIs – Google Maps API → Nearby hospitals & police stations SMS Gateway → SOS messages with live location Offline Mode – Journals, calming tools, and first aid guides available without internet.

Challenges we ran into

Handling real-time data from multiple sources proved tricky, especially when data was incomplete or delayed. Designing a UI that’s both informative and easy to use under stress was another challenge. Additionally, ensuring reliable recommendations while avoiding panic-inducing advice required careful testing and iteration. Designing one-tap actions that work under stress. Ensuring location accuracy in real-time. Balancing offline reliability with online updates. Keeping sensitive data private and encrypted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a system that can guide users through multiple types of crises, providing tailored advice in real time. Our user interface is clean, accessible, and designed for quick comprehension. We also implemented fail-safes and verification steps to ensure our recommendations are as accurate as possible.

What we learned

We gained insights into real-time data integration, crisis communication . We also learned how critical UX design is in high-stress scenarios and how to balance helpfulness with clarity and simplicity. we also learned How to merge physical safety features with emotional support tools in a single, user-friendly interface. What's next for CRISIS COPILOT

We plan to expand our data sources for even more accurate guidance, add personalized crisis planning features, and improve offline functionality for areas with unreliable connectivity. Long-term, we aim to collaborate with emergency services to make Crisis Copilot a trusted companion during any emergency. We’ve built a solid, fully functional foundation — but safety and wellness never stop evolving. Here’s where we’re headed next: AI-Powered Voice Assistant Hands-free SOS activation using voice commands. Real-time calming guidance in emergencies via AI speech synthesis. Wearable Integration Smartwatch & fitness band compatibility for instant SOS and heart-rate-triggered alerts.
